Use live chat, audience questions, featured products with quick buy, cohosts, and moderation tools during a livestream.

The livestream room combines chat, audience questions, featured products, and host controls in one place.

Before you start

  • Viewers join from the Livestreams page; whether you can chat depends on the livestream audience settings and being signed in.
  • Hosts manage the live event from the livestream controls reached through Settings > Content > Livestreams.
  • Quick buy only appears on featured products that are eligible for it.

Take part as a viewer

  1. Open the livestream from Livestreams and start watching.
  2. Send messages in the chat panel while the stream is live.
  3. Ask a question in the questions panel and vote for other viewers' questions; you can remove your vote again.
  4. When the host features a product, open it from the stream and use Quick buy on eligible products to purchase without leaving the room.

Run the room as a host

  1. Open your livestream's host controls and start the stream.
  2. Feature a product so viewers see it spotlighted with its buy action.
  3. Work through audience questions and update each question's status as you answer.
  4. Invite cohosts from the invite control so they can join you on stream, and invite specific viewers when the audience policy calls for it.

Moderate chat

  1. Open the host moderation tab during the stream.
  2. Use the safety actions to remove messages, time out users, or ban users.
  3. Review the moderation timeline to see timeouts and bans that were applied.

Expected result

Viewers can chat, ask and vote on questions, and buy featured products in the room; hosts can spotlight products, answer questions, bring in cohosts, and keep chat safe with removals, timeouts, and bans.

Troubleshooting

  • If you cannot send chat messages, sign in and check the livestream's audience rules; chat is tied to who may attend.
  • If Quick buy is missing on a featured product, that product is not eligible for quick buy; open the full product page instead.
  • If a viewer keeps disrupting chat after message removal, escalate to a timeout or ban from the moderation tab.
  • If an invited cohost cannot join, re-send the invite and confirm they are signed in to the right profile.
